'Pretty Little Liars' season 3: 'The ante has been upped' - Ian Harding
Ian Harding stars as one of the more controversial characters on "Pretty Little Liars," Ezra Fitz, the former high school English teacher who started a relationship with his student Aria Montgomery. The actor promises that for season 3, "The ante has been upped."
"The season premiere, I think, is like a nice little spring board into what the season is going to be," Harding told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a recent interview. "This season is all about a new Rosewood because all the dynamics have shifted."
The series tells the story of four girls, Hannah (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario), whose lives fall apart after the disappearance of their clique leader Alison. A year after Alison's death, the girls are tormented by a mysterious character named "A" who threatens to expose their secrets as well as their lives.
"I think the girls' relationship has changed, some for the better, some for the worse. The girls' emotional lives are in repair, " he later added. "When we find them because they've gone away for the summer, they've done some soul searching, they've done some internships and sort of rediscovered themselves after the several murders that they've witnessed in their life. "
Aria and Ezra seem to be going strong into the new season despite the social taboo of their age difference and Aria's parents being firmly against the pair.
"You get to see more of every character's underbelly," Harding said. "As in like we start to learn more about Ezra, like his background. I think we meet my family and there's some very colorful things that go on there."
"I just think that getting back into it, like wait a minute, so obviously something happens and A is back," he added. "Did they ever leave? Like is this person, people? So I think that the ante has been upped this season."
"Pretty Little Liars" season 3 premiere on June 5 at 8 p.m. on ABC Family. ABC Family is owned by ABC which is the parent company of OnTheRedCarpet.com.
