'Pretty Little Liars' renewed for season 3 with 24 episodes
Fans might have to wait a bit longer to find out who "A" is on the ABC Family drama "Pretty Little Liars."
The show, which is based on the popular book series by Sara Shepard and developed by Marlene King, has been picked up for a third season, ABC Family confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com on Tuesday, November 29. The show will have 24 episodes for its third season.
"Pretty Little Liars" is about four girls, Hannah (Ashley Benson), Aria (Lucy Hale), Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario), whose lives fall apart after the disappearance of their clique leader Allison.
A year after Allison goes missing; the group begins to receive messages from an unknown person going by the name of "A" threatening to expose secrets only Allison could've known.
"Pretty Little Liars" is currently in its second season and is set to return from hiatus with a mid-season premiere on January 2 at 8 p.m. ABC Family and OnTheRedCarpet.com's are products of the Walt Disney Company.
When the show returns, the action picks up a month after the events of the summer finale where the girls were set up and caught by the police with the weapon used for Allison's murder.
Cast member Shay Mitchell, who plays Emily, Tweeted her excitement about the renewal on Tuesday.
"Picked up for a third season of 'Pretty Little Liars' !! Congrats to all the cast & crew! I can't wait to see what 'A' has in store for us," Mitchell wrote on her official Twitter page.
