Peter Frampton, a Grammy-winning British rock singer known for the 1975 hit "Baby I Love You Way," has filed for divorce from his wife Christina Elfers after almost 15 years of marriage.

In papers filed earlier this week at Los Angeles court, the 61-year-old rock singer cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and also requested that Elfers get physical custody of the couple's 15-year-old daughter Mia, while he would retain visitation rights, according to court documents obtained by OnTheRedCarpet.com. Frampton states that he and Efers separated on Dec. 31, 2010.

Mia Rose Frampton is an actress who plays Becca Keeler, younger sister of champion gymnast Payson Keeler, on the ABC Family show "Make It Or Break It." Elfers also has an adult daughter named Tiffany from a previous relationship.

Elfers, who also goes by Tina, is Frampton's third wife. The two met in the late 1970s and wed in 1996. They split on New Year's Eve 2010, People said.

The rocker and Mary Lovett, a former model, divorced in 1973 after about three years of marriage. They have no children together. Frampton has two adult children with his second wife, Barbara Gold. The two divorced in 1993 after about 10 years of marriage.

Frampton rose to fame in the 1970s and has released more than a dozen studio albums, including the 1976 record "Frampton Comes Alive! and "Thank You Mr. Churchill," which hit stores in 2010. The singer won a Grammy for his 2006 album "Fingerprints."

Frampton's hit song "Baby I Love You Way" remains one of the most popular love songs today. The singer is also known for songs such as "I'm In You" and ""Do You Feel Like We Do."

"Baby I Love You Way" has been featured in movies such as the 1994 Generation X cult film "Reality Bites," which was released in 1994 and stars Ethan Hawk, Winona Ryder and Ben Stiller, and in the 2000 film "High Fidelity," the music-oriented comedy-drama starring John Cusack, Jack Black and Catherine Zeta-Jones.

Frampton recently began a tour of the United States, Canada and Europe and will perform throughout most of the summer until November. Check out the tour dates below. You can buy tickets on the singer's website.
