Paula Abdul makes 911 call after fight with reported boyfriend - Listen now

03/03/2011 by Kristina Lopez

Paula Abdul's Valentine's Day didn't end well. According to the police, the former "American Idol" judge made a 911 call on February 14, at 4:35 p.m. She can be heard in the video above screaming to an unidentified man, "Drop me off!"

The call was made while Abdul was traveling as a passenger in a car on the 101 freeway near Santa Barbara, California. At one point Abdul tells the operator responding to the call, "I want out of this car and he won't let me."

She later tells the unidentified man, "Are you gonna drop me off, 'cause I have emergency on the phone."

When asked about the call, Abdul's spokesperson said, "Arguments with loved ones are often times heated. After the call was made everything was worked out." The male Abdul was speaking to has not been identified.

Abdul, an early 1990s-era singer and choreographer, served as a judge on the singing contest show "American Idol" alongside Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, from the show's launch in 2002 to 2009.

She left the show a season after Kara DioGuardi joined. DioGuardi ended her run as a judge on the show in 2010 along with Cowell. Abdul, a former Laker Girl, was seen as the "cheerleading" judge who offered a more sympathetic ear and words of encouragement, in contrast to Cowell's typically-acerbic tone and dry and sometimes insulting comments.

"I needed some time to really kind of reflect on the amount of hard work that I put into American Idol," Abdul told OnTheRedCarpet.com in August. "It was the biggest blessing of my life. I learned so much and it was so wonderful to be able to go back to my roots, where I was when I started, behind the camera, rooting and nurturing talent to take flight."

Abdul recently hosted the CBS dance reality competition program "Live to Dance" which aired its finale on February 9, 2011. CBS has not commented on the current status of the show's second season.
