Paul Walker dies: 'Fast and Furious' star,40, killed in car crash
Paul Walker, best known for his role as Brian O'Connor in the "Fast and the Furious" movies, was killed in a car accident on Saturday, Nov. 30, OTRC.com has confirmed.
The crash took place around 3:30 p.m. on a road in Valencia, north of Los Angeles. Walker had just attended a car and toy drive event in the area.
"It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide," read a statement on the actor's official Facebook page. "He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news."
Walker is survived by a 15-year-old daughter, Meadow Rain, who is from a past relationship.
"Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. - #TeamPW," continued the message posted on Walker's Facebook page.
Walker's spokesperson had also confirmed the actor's death to OTRC.com. The driver who was killed in the accident was identified as Roger Rodas, Walker's friend and business partner.
Earlier in the day, police reported two people were killed in a car accident near Valencia. The red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT carrying them slammed into a "pole or a tree" and caught fire, they said. They did not confirm the people's identities, saying the accident was still under investigation, according to a statement obtained by OTRC.com. Authorities suspect that "speed was a factor in the solo vehicle collision.
"When they arrived, deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames," the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said. "The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded, extinguished the fire and subsequently located two victims inside the vehicle. The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene."
Walker was recently working on the seventh "Fast" movie, which is due to be released in 2014. In recent days, he shared on his Twitter page photos of himself with cast mates.
The actor is also known for his rolse in late '90s movies "Pleasantville," "Varsity Blues" and "She's All That."
