Paul Michael Glaser of 'Starsky and Hutch' pleads not guilty to marijuana charges

Paul Michael Glaser, who starred in the 1970's series "Starsky & Hutch," has pleaded not guilty to drug charges.

Glaser, who is best known for his role as David Starsky on the police drama "Starsky & Hutch," was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia (a pipe) on May 10 in Bowling Green, Kentucky. His lawyer entered a "not guilty" plea in court on August 30, according to the Associated Press.

The 69-year-old actor was in Kentucky to read an excerpt of his young adult novel, "Chrystallia and the Source of Light" to students at a local middle school.

Glaser told the authorities that the substance was medical marijuana from California, for which he has a subscription. He was arrested after someone made an anonymous call to police that someone was smoking marijuana at the Hilton Garden Inn hotel.

Following his stint on "Starsky & Hutch," Glaser directed films like "The Running Man," "The Cutting Edge," "The Air Up There" and "Kazaam."

He also appeared in the 2004 movie adaptation of "Starsky & Hutch," which starred Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson.

The actor's pre-trial hearing is set for October 22.
