Paul McCartney's former publicist, Geoff Baker, recently gave a candid interview about the employment issues he's had since losing his high-profile job with the former Beatle in 2004. Baker tells the U.K. newspaper Daily Mail that he's now volunteering as a street sweeper in his home town of Lyme Regis, Dorset. "I want to make it clear that I am not claiming any handouts or benefits whatsoever and I hope that I never have to," Baker tells the paper. "On the face of it, this looks like I've hit rock bottom." The former publicist says he's been unemployed for four years and has struggled to find work during that time. "I am one of the long-term unemployed who has been without an income for four years," he says. "I heard of the Government's new proposals and I thought it might provide me with a job opportunity whilst doing something of service for my home town." Baker worked for McCartney for 15 years, starting in 1989, when the iconic singer was married to his first wife Linda McCartney. The two began to have a falling out after McCartney married former model Heather Mills. In 2003, McCartney allegedly fired Baker, according to the Daily Mail, for tipping off the press about a private appearance but later welcomed Baker back to his team. Baker then claims that he quit a year later. "I find it very sad that after years of friendship, my publicist Geoff Baker and I are parting," McCartney said in a statement at the time. "Over the past few months, his behavior has not reached the professional standards I had come to expect from Geoff and it is with regret that I am forced to end our relationship."
