Oscar presenters 2012 - full list
Sandra Bullock, Gwyneth Paltrow, Morgan Freeman and Owen Wilson are the latest celebrities named as presenters for the 2012 Academy Awards, OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned. The ceremony is set to feature more than 25 of them and will air on Sunday, February 26 on ABC.Check out a list of the presenters listed alphabetically by first name below.
Angelina Jolie - she took home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1999 film "Girl, Interrupted." She also received a nomination for her lead performance in the 2008 movie "Changeling." Her life partner, Brad Pitt, is nominated this year for his role in the film "Moneyball."
Ben Stiller - the mostly comedic actor has never been nominated for an Oscar. He appeared with Eddie Murphy, who was previously named as the host of the 2012 ceremony but later left amid a producer shakeup, in "Tower Heist." He is also set to star in "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" which he is also directing.
Bradley Cooper - He is known for his role in "The Hangover" films and the 2011 film "Limitless." He was never nominated for an Oscar but was named "Sexiest Man Alive" last year by People magazine.
Cameron Diaz - she has never been nominated for an Oscar but has presented at previous Academy Award ceremonies. She is known for her bombshell roles in movies such as "The Mask," "There's Something About Mary" and "Bad Teacher." She can be seen next opposite Jennifer Lopez in the comedy "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
Chris Rock - the comedian served as host of the 77th Academy Awards in 2005 and will appear in the upcoming film "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
Christian Bale - he received an Oscar for his supporting role in the 2010 film "The Fighter."
Colin Firth - he took home an Oscar in 2011 for his performance in "The King's Speech," which also won Best Picture.
Ellie Kemper - she stars in "Bridesmaids." Her co-star Melissa McCarthy is up for Actress in a Supporting Role. Kemper has never been nominated for an Oscar and is known for her role in the hit show "The Office."
Emma Stone - she stars in "The Help," which is nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture. She did not receive an individual nod and never has before. She is also known for her roles in films such as "Superbad," "Crazy, Stupid, Love" and "Easy A" and stars in the new film "The Amazing Spider-Man."
Gwyneth Paltrow - she won an Oscar for her leading role in the 1998 film "Shakespeare in Love."
Halle Berry - she won an Oscar in 2002 for her lead performance in "Monster's Ball." She was the first black woman to take home an Academy Award for Actress in a Leading Role (Check out a video of her speech). UPDATE on Sunday, February 26: Halle Berry has canceled her appearance at the Oscars due to her recent foot injury, People magazine reported. She had broken it several months ago, in Spain, where she filmed scenes for the movie "Cloud Atlas."
Jennifer Lopez - the "American Idol" judge and singer has never been nominated for an Oscar before. She also stars in "What to Expect When You're Expecting."
Kermit and Miss Piggy - the duo appeared in the 2011 film "The Muppets," which earned a nomination for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Song for Bret McKenzie's track "Man or Muppet." Miss Piggy told OnTheRedCarpet.com she thinks Kermit deserved to get nominated.
Kristen Wiig - the "Saturday Night Live" actress is nominated for her original screenplay for the comedy "Bridesmaids," which she also appeared in.
Maya Rudolph - she stars in "Bridesmaids." She has never been nominated for an Oscar. The former "Saturday Night Live" actress now stars in the NBC comedy "Up All Night."
Melissa McCarthy - McCarthy is nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in "Bridesmaids." McCarthy won an Emmy for her role on the television show "Mike & Molly."
Meryl Streep - she is nominated this year for Actress in a Leading Role for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in "The Iron Lady." She has won two Oscars in the past, given for her roles in the films "Sophie's Choice" and "Kramer vs. Kramer," and has been nominated for one a record total of 17 times.
Michael Douglas - he won an Oscar for his lead performance in the 1987 film "Wall Street" and a Best Picture Award as a producer of the 1975 film "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."
Milla Jovovich - this "Resident Evil" actress also presented at the Academy's Scientific and Technical Awards on February 11. She has never been nominated for an Oscar.
Morgan Freeman - he won an Oscar for his supporting role in the 2004 film "Million Dollar Baby," and has been nominated four other times, for his parts in the films "Invictus," "The Shawshank Redemption," "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Street Smart."
Owen Wilson - he stars in "Midnight In Paris," which is nominated for four Oscars, including Best Picture. Wilson did not receive an individual nod, but earned one in 2002 for co-writing the screenplay of the film "The Royal Tenenbaums."
Natalie Portman - she received an Oscar for her lead performance in the 2010 movie "Black Swan." She was also nominated for her role in the 2008 film "Closer."
Penelope Cruz - she won an Oscar for her supporting role in the 2008 film "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" and earned two nods for her parts in "Volver" and "Nine."
Rose Bryne - she stars in "Bridesmaids." She has never been nominated for an Oscar. She also appeared last year in "X-Men: First Class."
Sandra Bullock - she took home an Oscar for her lead role in the 2009 film "The Blind Side." She stars in the 2011 film "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," which is nominated for Best Picture this year.
Tom Cruise - he was nominated for three Oscars in the past, for his roles in the films "Magnolia," "Jerry Maguire" and "Born on the Fourth of July."
Will Ferrell - the funnyman and "Saturday Night Live" alum has never been nominated for an Oscar but has presented at previous Academy Award ceremonies. He has has appeared in a slew of films including "Blades of Glory," "Stranger Than Fiction," "Elf" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby," which features Sacha Baron Cohen.
Tina Fey - this multiple Emmy-winning "30 Rock" actress and "Saturday Night Live" alum has never won an Oscar but has presented at Academy Award ceremonies.
Tom Hanks - he has won two Oscars, for his roles in "Forrest Gump" and "Philadelphia," and also serves as a governor of theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which votes on the winners. Hanks was also nominated for Oscars for his roles in "Cast Away," "Saving Private Ryan," and "Big." He stars in the 2011 film "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," which is nominated for Best Picture this year
Zach Galifianakis - he has never been nominated for an Oscar and this presenting stint will mark his first Academy Award ceremony appearance. He does, however, voice the part of Humpty Dumpty in "Puss In Boots," which received a nod this year for Animated Feature Film. The actor and comedian is known for "The Hangover" films as well as his roles in "Puss In Boots," "Due Date," "Dinner for Schmucks," "Up in the Air" and "What Happens in Vegas."
Wendi McLendon-Covey - she stars in "Bridesmaids." She has never been nominated for an Oscar. She is also known for her work in "Reno 911!"
The 2012 Academy Awards will also feature a new performance from Cirque du Soleil, which will showcase the largest cast it has ever assembled for a single act. The performance will be accompanied by music from Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman. This will mark the second time Cirque du Soleil has performed during an Academy Awards telecast.
