Oscar.com, the new website for the 84th Academy Awards, officially launched on January 17 with an exclusive behind the scenes video with host Billy Crystal.

The site will continue to feature new content counting down to the big show on February 26, and will look back on the awards ceremony's long history with an interactive timeline.

Oscar.com also hosts the official Oscar blog, which will feature red carpet fashion trends and tips from chef and lifestyle experts for hosting the best Oscar party.

On Oscar Sunday, live cameras will be placed everywhere from the red carpet to back stage. The cameras will broadcast the video and images to the site as well as on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, providing an insider's view from before, during and after the show.

Leading up to the ceremony, "On The Red Carpet" co-host Rachel Smith will be doing interviews with hair and fashion stylists and makeup artists for the "Best Dressed" video series featured on Oscar.com.

Other upcoming features include "Oscar Talks," a four-part video series focusing on the Actor, Actress, Directing and Best Pictures categories which launches on January 29.

Entertainment Weekly's Dave Karger returns on February 1 to Oscar.com with "Nominated... with Dave Karger." The 10-episode series will provide the ultimate film buff's analysis of the Best Picture race.

"Last year, our team set the bar high in terms of interactive second screen experiences," Karin Gilford, senior vice president, Digital Media, ABC.com, said in a statement. "This year we are taking the best of what we learned and are building on it. Beginning today, we'll take visitors on an unparalleled journey all the way through Oscar Sunday."

The site also has a social media page, Oscar Buzz, which tracks comments from fans using #Oscars and #OscarBuzz.

It was announced in November, that Crystal would return to host the 84th annual Academy Awards.

It will be Crystal's ninth time as host of the ceremony. Only Bob Hope has hosted more Academy Awards presentations, with 19 ceremonies between 1940 and 1978. Crystal last hosted the Academy Awards in 2004.

On January 24, "Winter's Bone" actress Jennifer Lawrence will join Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak to announce the nominees for the 84th Academy Awards.

Lawrence and Sherak will unveil the nominations in 10 of the 24 categories at a 5:30 a.m. PT during a news conference at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.

The awards ceremony will air live on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 7 p.m. ET on ABC, OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company.
