Oscar.com, the new website for the 84th Academy Awards, officially launched on January 17 and gives fans exclusive up-to-the-minute Oscar news.

The site will continue to feature new content counting down to the big show on February 26. Oscar.com looks back on the awards ceremony's long history with an interactive timeline.

On Oscar Sunday, live cameras will be placed everywhere from the red carpet to back stage. The cameras will broadcast the video and images to the site as well as on the iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch, providing an insider's view from before, during and after the show.

Leading up to the ceremony, "On The Red Carpet" co-host Rachel Smith will be doing interviews with hair and fashion stylists and makeup artists for the "Best Dressed" video series featured on Oscar.com.

Entertainment Weekly's Dave Karger returns on February 1 to Oscar.com with "Nominated... with Dave Karger." The 10-episode series will provide the ultimate film buff's analysis of the Best Picture race.

The site also has a social media page, Oscar Buzz, which tracks comments from fans using #Oscars and #OscarBuzz.

You can download the official Oscars app in the iTunes App Store. The official app of the Academy Awards gives movie fans the most exclusive, interactive Oscar Night experience ever. The app is free and works on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Not only can you make your Oscar picks, you can even compete with friends on Facebook. On Oscar Sunday, users play along during the show and predict category winners ahead of the opening of the envelopes. The app will refresh and calculate your results as categories are won.

You can also access exclusive video, including a series on fashion hosted by our own Rachel Smith.
