Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr reportedly welcomed their first child in a Los Angeles hospital on Friday and the baby boy weighs almost 10 pounds, the Australian Victoria's Secret model's grandmother says.

Bloom, who turns 34 on Thursday, and Kerr, 27 have not commented on the news of the birth or on what they planned on calling their newborn.

Speaking through a family friend, Ann Kerr confirmed the baby's weight and said Miranda Kerr and her new son were doing "very well", the Herald Sun newspaper in Australia reported.

Most newborns weigh between 6 and 10 pounds.

"Miranda and Orlando are yet to make an announcement about the birth of their little one," a message on Kerr's blog on the KORA Organics website read on Tuesday. "That will happen soon. We are very excited as we know you are."

Bloom, who starred in three "Pirates of the Caribbean" and "Lord of the Rings" movies and Kerr dated for at least three years before secretly getting married this July. Kerr announced her pregnancy shortly after the wedding.

"Here's the SWEETEST GUY EVER, Orlando Bloom! And he's having a baby in jan! How amazing!!!" Bloom's co-star in the 2011 movie "The Three Musketeers," Milla Jovovitch, Tweeted in August.

Bloom, a British actor, is also reportedly set to reprise his "Lord of the Rings" role of Legolas in the movie "The Hobbit," a prequel, although his spokesperson has not confirmed the report, carried by the UK newspaper The Sun, which said the star is set to earn at least $1 million for a cameo. Actors Elijah Wood, Iam McKellan, Cate Blanchett and Andy Serkis are all returning to star in the new film.
