Olivia Wilde and husband Tao Ruspoli, an Italian prince and filmmaker, have separated, their spokesperson has confirmed to OnTheRedCarpet.com.

Wilde, the 26-year-old star of the movie "TRON: Legacy" and the series "House," and Ruspoli, 35, married in 2003. They have no children. This was the couple's first marriage.

"They have been lliving apart after trying for quite some time to make their relationship work," a source close to the matter told People magazine.

Ruspoli was born in Thailand and was raised in Italy and Los Angeles. He currently lives in Venice, California. Ruspoli has directed mostly documentaries. His family owns Rome's Palazzo Ruspoli and a castle in Vignanello, Italy.

"We eloped, then had weddings at my parents' Virginia farmhouse and the garden of his family's castle outside Rome," Wilde told People in 2007. "There were stilt walkers, drummers, flag bearers; it was surreal and beautiful and amazing, like a fairy tale."

Wilde recently filmed the movies "Cowboys & Aliens" with Harrison Ford and "James Bond" actor Daniel Craig and "Butter" with Hugh Jackman and "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene.
