Nikki Reed of "Twilight" fame is opening up about her marriage -- and music.

The 24-year-old actress, who is married to "American Idol" alum Paul McDonald, explained how collaborating on music allows the duo to spend more valuable time together.

"I feel like especially being in this crazy, weirdo world that we're in, where we're making movies and people are on tour, it's just so easy to lose track of what's important," Reed explained to People magazine. "I feel like it's really important to just be with each other and make the other person a priority."

In November 2012, the talented pair, who tied the knot in October 2011 at a private ceremony in California, released a 5-track EP through their indie label, titled "The Best Part." (Listen below).

"What makes this album special is the fact that Paul and I wrote every song on here together," Reed said on her official website. "I've always loved music and felt connected to it, but was too afraid to explore that avenue. It was Paul's encouragement and talent that made me feel safe enough to try."

Reed went on to explain to the magazine what the musical pair has coming up next, adding that children might not be in their immediate future.

"We're actually writing a full-length [album] and we should be releasing that in the next couple of months," Reed explained. "Hopefully doing some touring in Europe. We're playing a few shows at SXSW."

"Right now we're just so focused on what we're doing together musically and where we're at in our careers," she continued. "I can't try to predict what life has in store for us because obviously at a certain point, you throw your hands up and say what's meant to happen will happen. But right now at this moment, I don't feel like I'm insistent on that. I just feel really content."

Reed and McDonald's previously released EP, which came a little more than a week before the release of the final "Twilight" movie, "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," features five alternative country songs which were all co-written by Reed and McDonald. The album is available on iTunes, as well as on Reed's official website, www.iamnikkireed.com.

Reed, who plays vampire Rosalie Hale in the cult "Twilight" franchise, told OTRC.com in October that the EP was a work in progress.

"I have my EP with my husband, we're singing together, so we're doing an EP with duets and stuff that we've written together," Reed told OTRC.com on October 2.

The pair recently released their duet, "All I've Ever Needed," which was featured on the soundtrack of "Breaking Dawn - Part 2."

In November 2011, Reed and McDonald debuted their love song duet "Now That I Found You" on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," and talked about how the collaboration came about.

"Paul basically lives with a guitar strapped around his body, and he just walks around the house plays stuff; I've experimented with writing lyrics for other people in the past," Reed told Seacrest. "He recorded the music, and on the way back from Europe, a week and a half ago, I just sat and wrote lyrics to his music. Then we went in this Saturday, and recorded it."
