Nikki Reed of 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn' reveals passions, projects and baby plans (Video)
Nikki Reed, who plays the vampire Rosalie Hale in the hit "Twilight" films, has some stories to tell and projects in the works - away from the cameras.
"I'm working on a screenplay," the 23-year-old actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a video interview to promote the newest and fourth "Twilight" film," "Breaking Dawn - Part 1." "I'm also attempting to write a novel. I have a blog that I write on pretty consistently - I mean, life's gotten a little crazy in the last couple of months, so I've slowed down a bit."
Reed married "American Idol" finalist Paul McDonald on October 16. The two met the previous March at the premiere of the movie "Red Riding Hood." They do not appear in the movie, but its director, Catherine Hardwicke, helmed the first "Twilight" film as well as "Thirteen," a 2003 coming-of-age drama that starred Reed as a rebellious teenager. The actress also co-wrote its script.
Reed says she likes to tell stories on her blog - iamnikkireed.com.
"In the quiet moments in between these movies, when you sit and you think about what makes you feel good, for me - writing," she said. "Even if it's just a story that's two paragraphs on my blog, it's what makes me feel good."
In the time between filming the "Twilight" movies in places such as Canada, Brazil and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Reed also found time to learn Greek. In Greece. She also went to college.
"Even when we were shooting this last installment I was going to LSU and I was taking a course in psychology and stuff because I sort of like to have quiet time when I get home," she said.
Like many of her "Twilight" co-stars, Reed also filmed side projects. She appears with Bruce Willis in the movie "Catch .44," which hits theaters on December 9.
Meanwhile, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is set for release on Friday, November 18. Reed's character showcases her maternal side in the film, lending support to mortal Bella Swan, played by main star Kristen Stewart, becomes pregnant after marrying Hale's adopted brother, Edward Cullen, portrayed by Robert Pattinson.
Reed says she is not thinking about having children herself any time soon, but adds that she may pursue writing a children's book.
"I don't want to be a mom right now but I do love babies," she said. "My little brother was born when I was 11 so I was like, 'instant baby-sitter.' I didn't even get the choice. I have a connection, I guess, with kids for that reason. I have a lot of patience for kids. I probably have more patience for kids than I do for adults."
