Nikki Reed of "The Twilight Saga" is dating "American Idol" contestant Paul McDonald, according to E! Online.

The actress and aspiring singer first crossed paths when the "Idol" gang went to the Hollywood premiere of "Red Riding Hood" in early March. Their meeting was caught on camera as Reed said, "You're amazing. I'm blushing, I should go" before hugging McDonald awkwardly.
When she was out of earshot, McDonald said to the camera, "Was she a famous actress or something? I'd hang out with her!"
Reed is currently filming "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn" in British Columbia and will be shooting the Bret Easton Ellis-penned flick, "Downers Grove" in the spring. Reed got her break starring and writing the controversial movie "Thirteen," which was co-written and directed by "Twilight"'s first director, Catherine Hardwicke.
McDonald is in the Top 8 contestants of "American Idol" season 10, only falling into the bottom 3 after singing "Rocket Man" during the Elton John tribute round.
The couple is reportedly communicating via Skype while they're apart, but an insider said that Reed is referring to the "Idol" hopeful as her boyfriend.
