Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald debut song, 'Now That I Found You'
Nikki Reed of "Twilight" married former "American Idol" contestant Paul McDonald last month and the love birds are already making beautiful music together.
The talented pair debuted their love song duet, "Now That I Found You" on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" on Monday morning and talked about how the collaboration came about.
"Paul basically lives with a guitar strapped around his body, and he just walks around the house plays stuff; I've experimented with writing lyrics for other people in the past," Reed told Seacrest. "He recorded the music, and on the way back from Europe, a week and a half ago, I just sat and wrote lyrics to his music. Then we went in this Saturday, and recorded it with Andre Harris."
In the song, McDonald sings, "I hope your eyes just smile forever, only once I've told a lie / I hope these days go on forever and always right by your side / You're all I want to know for the rest of my life."
Reed told Seacrest that she wasn't as gung-ho about the project as her new husband, but revealed that they would probably collaborate on more music in the future.
"He's really supportive and encourages everything, so he wants to be a superteam," Reed said of her hubby. "I'm a little more shy. We've done some open mics together. I probably will end up doing it."
Reed married "American Idol" finalist Paul McDonald on October 16. The two met the previous March at the premiere of the movie "Red Riding Hood."
They did not appear in the "Red Riding Hood," but its director, Catherine Hardwicke, helmed the first "Twilight" film as well as "Thirteen," a 2003 coming-of-age drama that starred Reed as a rebellious teenager. The actress also co-wrote its script.
During a recent interview to promote "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I," Reed told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she plans to concentrate on her writing.
"I'm working on a screenplay," the 23-year-old actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com . "I'm also attempting to write a novel. I have a blog that I write on pretty consistently - I mean, life's gotten a little crazy in the last couple of months, so I've slowed down a bit."
In the time between filming the "Twilight" movies in places such as Canada, Brazil and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Reed also found time to learn Greek. In Greece. She also went to college.
"Even when we were shooting this last installment I was going to LSU and I was taking a course in psychology and stuff because I sort of like to have quiet time when I get home," she said.
Like many of her "Twilight" co-stars, Reed also filmed side projects. She appears with Bruce Willis in the movie "Catch .44," which hits theaters on December 9.
Meanwhile, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is set for release on Friday, November 18. Reed's character showcases her maternal side in the film, lending support to mortal Bella Swan, played by main star Kristen Stewart, who becomes pregnant after marrying Hale's adopted brother, Edward Cullen, portrayed by Robert Pattinson.
