Nicki Minaj signals departure from 'American Idol'
Shortly after Mariah Carey confirmed her exit from "American Idol," Nicki Minaj appeared to do the same in a Tweet on Thursday, May 30.
"Thank you 'American Idol' for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh," Minaj Tweeted at 4:13 PM PT.
There was no immediate comment from Fox, the show's production company or Minaj's rep regarding the rapper's future on the show. Both Minaj and Carey served as new judges for season 12 of the reality competition series.
Fellow judge Randy Jackson announced his exit from the series earlier this month. Jackson had served as a judge on "American Idol" since its debut in 2002. Keith Urban, who also joined the show this year, has not announced his future plans with the show.
"American Idol" struggled in the ratings this year. The season 12 finale, which took place earlier this month, had the lowest ratings the show has ever received since it premiered in 2002.
Minaj was set to debut her video for her single "High School" on the recent finale of "American Idol" but it was deemed too "risque" by the powers that be.
