Nicki Minaj ditches colorful makeup for ELLE cover: 'I felt naked' (Photo)
Nicki Minaj, one of the most outspoken and literally the most colorful-looking judge "America Idol" has ever had, ditched her bright makeup in favor of a nude look for her cover photo for ELLE magazine's April 2013 issue.
Gone are the thick, bangs-skimming eyelashes, the poker-straight bright hair and candy-colored lips. Minaj, who changes her look constantly, has undergone a "make-under" -- she sports a neutral lip tone, little to no mascara and slightly messy, wavy bleached hair with dark roots as she gives a smoldering stare. She also shows cleavage in a black leather Tom Ford jacket zipped down past her chest.
"When I saw myself with barely any makeup at, it was such a ... like, I'm so, so attached to my pink lipstick, it's hard," she told ELLE. "I feel that it's become a part of me. To go in front of the camera, without pink lips or big ol' crazy lashes -- you know, nothing -- I felt naked. It was scary! So this photo shoot was a real accomplishment in my eyes."
Minaj, who made her debut as an "American Idol" judge alongside Mariah Carey and Keith Urban at the season 12 premiere of the FOX show in January, also talked to the magazine about "world domination" plan, aimed at helping her family financially, and dealing with bullies as a child.
The rapper, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, was born in Trinidad and Tobago and moved to Queens, New York at a young age.
"I went through a lot of bullying early on," she told ELLE. "Girls made my life a living hell. We had come to America from a different country. My brother and I had accents. It was very tough."
The print edition of ELLE's April 2013 issue is set to be released on March 26.
