Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo announce engagement

After four years of dating Nick Lachey and Vanessa Minnillo are heading down the aisle. The 36-year-old Lachey proposed to Minnillo, 29, on Thursday, reports People.

"If anyone's heard the rumors of my engagement, they are absolutely true! Vanessa and I couldn't be happier," Lachey Tweeted on Thursday.

"We're excited and incredibly happy about our engagement and we look forward to a wonderful future together," the couple said in a joint statement, according to the magazine. The couple began dating in 2006 before splitting briefly in 2009.The two have not announced a wedding date.

This will be the second marriage for Lachey, who divorced Simpson in 2006. Simpson and Lachey starred on the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica, which documented their married life together.

Minnillo, who is a former Miss Teen USA and television host of shows like True Beauty, once starred in a music video for Lachey's song "What's Left of Me," which was about his divorce from Simpson.

Simpson meanwhile, is also in a steady relationship with ex-NFL player Eric Johnson. "He definitely makes me very happy," Simpson said about Johnson to USA Today. "He brings out a lot of light in me and makes me very comfortable being who I am. It's nice to be with somebody who praises you for the right reasons."
