Neil Patrick Harris becomes a dad, says twins have been born

Neil Patrick Harris has become a father as an unnamed surrogate mother has given birth to his and partner David Burtka's twins - a boy and a girl.

"Babies!!" Harris, 37, wrote on his Twitter page on Friday. "On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold. All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey."

It was announced in August that Harris, known for the shows How I Met Your Mother and Doogie Howser, M.D., and Burtka would be the parents of twins via a surrogate mother in October.

"Babies were born!" Burtka, a chef and actor, wrote on his Twitter page minutes after Harris announced the news. "I am so happy to be a dad! Now I have two additional sous chefs..!"

Burtka guest starred on an episode of How I Met Your Mother. The couple has reportedly been dating for six years.
