Natalie Portman jokes that her role in the R-rated sex comedy film "No Strings Attached" may make her father happy.

Portman, 29, plays Emma, a doctor-in-training who begins a commitment-free physical relationship with her friend Adam, played by Ashton Kutcher of "That '70s Show" and Punk'd" fame. Portman said she was happy to be able to wear hospital scrubs.

"I kept taking photos on my phone and sending it to my dad, because my dad's a doctor and he always wanted me to be a doctor," she told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I was like, 'Look dad, I made your dream come true.'"

The Israeli-born actress' father, Avner Hershlag, is a gynecologist and obstetrician in New York who specializes in fertility and reproductive disorders.

"No Strings Attached" was released on Friday and is rated R for sexual content, language and some drug material. After they begin sleeping with one another, Emma and Adam try to control their emotions.

"It's certainly easier now than ever to separate between the physical and the emotional sides of sex. You can just sort of sleep with someone and then text them afterwards instead of having a face-to-face conversation," Portman said, adding: "There is a lot of sex. Sorry, Mom. Next time I'll make a light, PG movie."

The actress earlier this month won a Golden Globe for her role in the R-rated thriller "Black Swan" and also recently filmed the fantasy comedy movie Your Highness," which features a slew of sexual jokes and a scene that sees Portman in a thong bikini. The movie stars James Franco and Danny McBride of the HBO series "Eastbound & Down."

Portman plays a warrior who helps a pair of princes, played by Franco and McBride, save a maiden, played by Zooey Deschanel, from an evil wizard, portrayed by Justin Theroux.

The director of "Your Highness," set for release in April 2011, is David Gordon Green, who directed Franco and McBride in "Pineapple Express."
