Natalie Portman names baby son Aleph - What do you think?
Natalie Portman and fiance Benjamin Millepied's newborn son has a very unique name.
OnTheRedCarpet.com has learned from a source close to the actress the the couple named their son Aleph, which is the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. It can also be spelled Alef. Portman and her spokespeople have not confirmed the name of the child.
Portman was born in Jerusalem, Israel and speaks some Hebrew. Her father, a fertility specialist, was also born in the country. The actress gave birth to a baby boy on June 6, 2011. The baby weighed in at 8 pounds, 7 ounces.
It is the first child for the 30-year-old star, who announced her pregnancy and engagement to Millepied back in December. She and Millepied, 34, have been linked together as early as late 2009 and met last spring while filming "Black Swan." Portman won an Academy Award in February for her performance in the film.
Millepied was born in France and has danced as the principal dancer with the New York City Ballet. He has choreographed several productions and was one of the choreographers of "Black Swan". Earlier this year, he was made a Chevalier, or knight, in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture.
The couple has not announced a wedding date. The actress told OnTheRedCarpet.com in April during a press junket for "Your Highness" that she and Millepied are "engaged and we will make it known when we do get married."
Portman and Millepied recently joined other celebrities in signing Freedom to Marry's "I Do" open letter calling on President Barack Obama to support gay marriage.
