Naomi Watts cast in 'J. Edgar' biopic with Leonardo DiCaprio, report says
Actress Naomi Watts has reportedly signed on to join the cast of "J. Edgar," a biopic about J. Edgar Hoover, first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, according to Deadline.com
The film is set to be directed by Clint Eastwood and Hoover will be played by Leonardo DiCaprio. It was announced in December that "The Social Network" star Armie Hammer will play Hoover's protégé and alleged love interest Clyde Tolson. Tolson was the associate director of the FBI under Hoover.
Watts will play Hoover's secretary of 54 year, Helen Gandy, according to Deadline. The film will also star "Sweet Home Alabama" actor Josh Lucas as aviator Charles Lindbergh, whose baby's kidnapping made headlines in 1932. "Gossip Girl" star Ed Westwick has also been cast in the film as "a clean-cut operative hired by Hoover to write his biography," according to the site.
The script was penned by "Milk" screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who won an Academy Award for his work.
