Nancy Grace talks 'DWTS' performance: It was a life or death ordeal
Nancy Grace opens up about her week three performance dedicated to her and her children's "life or death ordeal" on "Dancing With The Stars."
The 51-year-old legal expert and partner MacManus, 29, received 21 out of 30 from the judges for their waltz on week three of ABC's hit celebrity ballroom dancing series (read recap). The pair had the second to lowest score of the night, only followed by Chaz Bono and partner Lacey Schwimmer who received 18 out of 30 for their rumba.
The celebrity performers hit the floor dancing a tribute to their "most memorable year," with Grace choosing the year she gave birth to her twins during what was a complicated delivery.
"The three of us, the twins and myself, went through quite an ordeal, a life or death ordeal, and it took them over a year and me over a year to get well, to actually make a comeback," Grace told OnTheRedCarpet.com after the show. "Right when the music started I thought of nothing but the dance itself and trying to execute it as flawlessly as we had practiced in rehearsal hall - but right before I started - I looked over and saw them [the twins] smiling."
Grace went on to talk about how she plans to win over the judges in week three.
"You know, I thought that the dance was beautiful, but obviously the waltz is too tame for this bunch," Grace joked."We're going to have to give them a little of that next time."
Contestant and television personality Ricki Lake and professional partner Derek Hough earned the top score of 27 out of 30 for the night. It was the second week in a row that the couple earned the top spot in the competition.
The 10 remaining pairs return on Tuesday, October 4 for an elimination episode where the third couple is expected to be eliminated.
"When times are hard, double down and you'll get through," Grace added.
