'Modern Family' stars get stuck in an elevator, Tweet photos and videos
"Modern Family" stars Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet were stuck in an elevator in Kansas City, Kansas, on Friday, March 1, and tried to make the best of it by sharing their experience on Twitter.
The three actors were on their way to headline a charity benefit called Kids Night Out 2013 for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City in Stonestreet's hometown when the elevator at the Sheraton Kansas City Hotel at Crown Center stopped, according to The Kansas City Star.
"This is us right now. 45 mins stuck in this elevator," Ferguson Tweeted with a link to the picture of the three actors seen above. Prior to that Tweet, Ferguson also posted a Vine video showing Bowen and Stonestreet, as well as the other people in the elevator, saying "Get us out!" The video can be seen below.
Crews from the Kansas City Fire Department arrived to free the group at about 10 p.m., an hour after they were scheduled to appear.
"Finally made it out of the stuck elevator at the one hour mark," Ferguson Tweeted with a video of Bowen climbing out of the elevator. "At least the firemen in K.C. are cute."
When they finally took the stage, the actors praised and thanked the Fire Department. Their appearance set a record attendance for the Boys & Girls Club, the newspaper reports.
Ty Burrell, who plays Bowen's on-screen husband on the series, was reportedly set to attend the event but had to cancel at the last minute because of a conflict.
Both Bowen and Stonestreet have won two Emmys each for their roles on the series and Stonestreet has been nominated for three Golden Globes for playing Cameron Tucker, the life partner of Ferguson's character. Ferguson has been nominated for three Emmy awards for playing Mitchell Pritchett, who is also the brother of Bowen's character on the series.
