Mitchel Musso of 'Hannah Montana' takes plea deal in DUI case
Mitchel Musso, who starred opposite Miley Cyrus on "Hannah Montana," took a plea deal in his DUI case on February 10, according to reports.
The actor pled no contest to one count of having a blood alcohol level of over 0.08, according to E! News. As a result the actor was sentenced to 36 months of informal probation in addition to alcohol education classes and a fine.
Musso was arrested in Burbank, California on October 16 after failing to slow down for police who were directing traffic at the site of an unrelated accident.
His blood-alcohol level was above the 0.08 limit and given the actor was a minor, any alcohol in his system was considered illegal. Musso could've faced six months in jail on the charges.
"In becoming an adult, I have learned firsthand that stepping up and taking responsibility is the best way to move forward," Musso said in a statement to E! News. "I am especially thankful to my family and fans for their unwavering support and encouragement. I am glad to now put this in the past."
Musso portrayed Hannah Montana's friend Oliver Oken on the hit Disney series, which ran from 2006 until 2011. He also stars in Disney's "Pair of Kings" and "Prank Stars" and does voice-over work for the animated series "Phineas and Ferb."
