The winner of the 2011 Miss USA pageant has been crowned.
21-year-old Alyssa Campanella, also known as Miss California, has won the Miss USA crown in Las Vegas and will represent the nation in this year's Miss Universe pageant.
Rima Fakih, who made history in 2010 by becoming the first Arab-American to win Donald Trump's Miss USA pageant, recently reached a plea deal in her DUI case and faces a maximum sentence of about three months in jail.
The 26-year-old former beauty queen was arrested in December 2011 after police pulled her over in Highland Park, Michigan. They said she was driving 60 mph in a 30 mph zone and weaving in and out of traffic and that officers found an open bottle of champagne behind the driver's seat of her Jaguar. She failed two breath tests, which showed her blood alcohol content to be 0.19 and 0.20 percent - above the legal limit of 0.08.
Former Miss USA Rima Fakih, who won the pageant in 2010, was arrested on DUI charges in Highland Park, Michigan this weekend.
According to People magazine, Fakih Tweeted on Saturday, "Let's clear things up now. ... I'm NOT in Michigan and I'm NOT in jail! Wrong Fakih." But has since removed the post and her attorney Doraid Elder confirmed the arrest to the weekly on Sunday.
Alyssa Campanella, who won the 2011 Miss USA pageant on Sunday night, representing California, caught up with OnTheRedCarpet.com in her only one-on-one interview from the evening.
Campanella was still overwhelmed when she talked to OnTheRedCarpet.com co-host Rachel Smith, who was Miss USA in 2007.
"I'm over-shocked right now," she said.
