Mindy Kaling's new show, "The Mindy Project," has officially been picked up for a full season by Fox. The network announced they ordered an additional nine episodes of the show, which ups the series to a full season order of 22 episodes, in a statement on Monday, October 8. The network also announced that it would pick up six additional episodes of "Ben and Kate." "Ben And Kate and The Mindy Project have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real - which is why we're confident they will continue to build on what is already an appointment comedy night for young, influential audiences on Tuesdays," Kevin Reilly, Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, said in a statement. The series creator and star Mindy Kaling, 33, is known by many for her longtime role as Kelly Kapoor on the hit NBC sitcom "The Office." She has also had roles in "The 40-Year-Old-Virgin" and "No Strings Attached." The actress is set to play a voice character in the 2012 film "Wreck-It Ralph," as well as play herself in the upcoming 2013 comedy "The End of the World." Kaling took to Twitter to express her excitement, posting "Thanks everyone for the congratulations on the back 9! We are so psyched! We love you Kevin Reilly. #MindyProjectFOX." "The Mindy Project" is a single-camera comedy that features Kaling as a skilled OB/GYN trying to balance both her personal and professional life. The show also features Chris Messina of "Celeste and Jesse Forever" as well as actors Ed Weeks, Anna Camp and Amanda Setton who appear as her quirky friends and co-workers. The FOX show airs on Tuesdays at 9:30 ET. Watch a clip from her FOX series "The Mindy Project" below.
