Director Paul W.S. Anderson said that he spent several sequels trying to figure out how to bring back characters he had already killed off, but his plans came together in "Resident Evil: Retribution."
"It was fun to work old characters back in. Obviously, I loved working with Michelle on the first movie and we shot her in the head obviously, which kind of precluded her from coming back, but we always talked about the idea of bringing her back but couldn't figure out how," Anderson said in an interview provided by Screen Gems. "Then at the end of the third movie, where we kind of introduced the cloning idea, that's where it really kick started the idea of obviously, if you have a franchise that has cloning in it, then there's the possibility for dead characters to come back."
Milla Jovovich says "Resident Evil: Retribution" is "bigger and better" than the four previous installments in the sci-fi franchise.
"Each time, we try to make the movies bigger and better than the last one because what's the point of seeing another one, if it's not going to be better than the last?" Jovovich told reporters at the film's worldwide premiere in Tokyo, Japan on September 3, in a video provided by Screen Gems. "We try our best to all of our passion and all of our energy into making it the best that we can."
The premiere of "Resident Evil: Retribution" in Los Angeles featured a black carpet with many ladies making some daring and stylish fashion choices including the film's star Milla Jovovich and a grown-up Alexa Vega.
Jovovich showed up to the premiere on Wednesday, September 12, donning a chic black jumpsuit with cropped bottoms and sparkly high heel shoes. The actress also wore her hair loose and complemented the look with a pair of drop earrings and clutch.
