Miley Cyrus: It's 'pretty blatant' Jonas Brothers' 'Wedding Bells' is about me
Miley Cyrus says it's "pretty blatant" the new Jonas Brothers song, "Wedding Bells," is about her engagement to "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth.
"I don't know who else is getting married," Cyrus told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on October 18. "So I feel like that's pretty blatant, it's whatever. Like I said, everyone has to write songs that are about things that they felt and he even introduced that this isn't the way that I am. So, you can't ever hate on someone for writing about something you've been through."
Cyrus and Nick Jonas dated between June 2006 and December 2007. Jonas went on to date Selena Gomez until 2010 and Australian singer Delta Goodrem from May 2011 until February 2012.
Cyrus starred in her first major film, "The Last Song," with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth in 2010. The two announced their engagement in June.
"I think that you kind of get a fair warning when you date an artist and someone that's a writer. When you're going through things that you're going to end up hearing about it on the radio," Cyrus continued. "I don't know... wedding bells are in my future, so I don't know."
In the song, Jonas refers to a phone call from his ex-girlfriend, telling him "a ceremony's set for June" and she hopes he can "meet him soon." The song goes on to say, "I don't want to hear the wedding bells chime."
The song also refers to his anniversary with the ex-girlfriend, as being "eleven nights into June." Cyrus and Jonas met on June 11, 2006, as Cyrus wrote in her 2006 autobiography, "Miles to Go," not naming him, but calling him "my first love."
Miley Cyrus reportedly wrote her song "7 Things" about Nick Jonas, the music video's director Brett Ratner told People magazine.
Selena Gomez hinted that her song "I'm Sorry" is about Nick Jonas and told TWIST magazine, "It's about a boy I kind of fell for, but he couldn't let his ex-girlfriend go, and it was really difficult."
Jonas' brother Joe has also reportedly used his high-profile relationships as inspiration for songs in the past, Joe Jonas' song "I'm Sorry" is rumored to be about his 2010 relationship with Demi Lovato, while her song "Mistake" is reportedly about Joe.
Taylor Swift reportedly wrote her song "Forever and Always" about Joe Jonas, who famously broke up with her in 2008, with a 27-second phone call, after meeting his next girlfriend, Camilla Belle. His most recent high-profile break-up was with "Twilight" actress Ashley Greene, in March 2011.
