Miley Cyrus on bong video: 'It was a bad decision'
Miley Cyrus has responded to a video that shows her smoking the hallucinogenic herb salvia out of a bong, saying: "It was a bad decision."
The 18-year-old pop singer and star of the Disney Channel show "Hannah Montana" is also seen swearing and laughing in the clip, which was published on the website TMZ in December. Salvia is legal in California
"I'm not perfect," Cyrus told Marie Claire magazine in an interview published in its March 2011 issue. "I made a mistake. I'm disappointed in myself for disappointing my fans. So for me it was a bad decision, because of my fans and because of what I stand for."
Kelly Osbourne, rocker Ozzy Osbourne's daughter who stars with Cyrus in the upcoming film "So Undercover," defended the singer and actress after the video was published.
Cyrus began her acting career when she was eight and rose to fame with her role on "Hannah Montana," which ended last month after four seasons. She starred in her first major film, "The Last Song", with on-again, off-again boyfriend Liam Hemsworth earlier this year
Cyrus said last year she has outgrown "Hannah Montana."
She caused some controversy last year when she showcased a more mature image in performances and music videos, which marked a sharp contrast to her "good-girl" "Hannah Montana" persona seen on the show.
