Miley Cyrus' latest video 'Who Owns My Heart' criticized by Parents Television Council
Miley Cyrus starred in a new seductive video for "Who Owns My Heart?" However, the Disney Channel star's new look is being blasted by at least one organization.
"It is unfortunate that she would participate in such a sexualized video like this one," The president of the Parents Television Council, Tim Winter said, according to MTV. "Miley built her fame and fortune entirely on the backs of young girls, and it saddens us that she seems so eager to distance herself from that fanbase so rapidly."
In the past the Parents Television Council has managed successful campaigns for shows to get fined by the FCC for programming theyve deemed inappropriate. Two and a Half Men, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Gossip Girl are frequently targeted by the organization for indecency.
Their most recent campagin was against the CBS sitcom $#*! My Dad Says. The Parents Television Council came out swinging this morning calling CBS "shameless" over the title Twitter inspired sitcom starring William Shatner.
Cyrus, whose Disney Channel show Hannah Montana is on its fourth and final season , caused some controversy earlier this year when she showcased a more mature image.
She danced close to a female dancer in concert performances, recorded a sexy music video for her song "Can't Be Tamed" and footage of her appearing to give a lap dance to choreographer and director Adam Shankman was leaked online.
Her moves have marked a sharp contrast to her "good-girl" persona seen in Hannah Montana. Cyrus has said she has outgrown the series. She has said she is not trying to be "slutty" and that partying stories from rocker Bret Michaels, with whom she recorded a duet earlier this year, inspire her to not go overboard.
Cyrus, who began her acting career when she was eight, is focusing her attention on the big screen. She stars in the 2011 film LOL: Laughing Out Loud with Demi Moore and plays a girl who deals with high school romances and friendships as well as overbearing parents.
