Mick Jagger to perform live at Grammys for the first time
Mick Jagger, singer of the legendary rock group the Rolling Stones, is set to perform live at the Grammy Awards for the first time.
The 2011 ceremony will take place on Sunday, February 13 and air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. Jagger, a 67-year-old Grammy winner himself, is scheduled to perform as part of its annual "In Memoriam" tributes, which pays tribute to musicians and other famous music personalities that have died in the past year.
Jagger, who once performed with the Rolling Stones on a Grammy telecast via satellite in 1986, will be accompanied by Raphael Saadiq and his band and honor recently deceased Grammy winner Solomon Burke, organizers said in a statement.
Burke, known by many as the "king of rock and soul," died at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport on Oct. 10, 2010 at the age of 70. Other musicians who have died in the past year include Gerry Rafferty, singer of the 1978 song "Baker Street," Bobby Farrell, Eddie Fisher and Rich Cronin of the group LFO. Other singers and groups set to perform at the 2011 Grammys include Eminem, Arcade Fire, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, Miranda Lambert, Muse, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and his mentor Usher with Jaden Smith, B.o.B, Bruno Mars, Janelle Monae, Drake and Rihanna, Cee Lo Green with actress Gwyneth Paltrow and the Jim Henson Company Muppets.
Eminem is up for 10 awards, Bruno Mars received seven nominations, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga and Lady Antebellum all received six nods each and Katy Perry earned four. (Check out a full list of 2011 Grammy nominations).
