Michelle Williams on Beyonce baby news: I do not have to say congrats on Twitter
Michelle Williams fought back at haters on Twitter on Sunday, when they accused her of not congratulating her former Destiny's Child band mate Beyonce Knowles on the birth of her daughter.
"Let's get ONE thing straight....I do NOT have to say congrats to someone when they're NOT on twitter," Williams wrote on Sunday. "ESPECIALLY when I talk or email them all the time....or when I'll be physically present as well...so harassing and stalking my timeline to see if I've mentioned something is POINTLESS!!! My friendship with people aren't always for twitter display. Respect that and get a LIFE!!! Enjoy this FINE day!!! God bless!!!!"
The message was presumably in response to a message the 31-year-old singer re-Tweeted which read, "[Expletive] YOU BETTER CONGRATULATE YOUR KING ON GIVING BIRTH TO HER CHILD."
Williams continued her explanation writing, "This is a beautiful, precious, private time between two people and excitement is to be expected but NOT disrespect! #churchdismissed."
Williams was a member of the successful R&B group Destiny's Child with Beyonce and Kelly Rowland. The trio sold over 25 million records and all three members launched solo careers following their 2005 break. In addition to music, Williams has appeared on television and on Broadway, in musicals like "The Color Purple" and "Chicago."
Beyonce and Jay-Z welcomed their daughter Blue Ivy Carter January 7, 2012. Many of the couple's friends offered congratulations on Twitter.
The singer's friend, actress Gwyneth Paltrow sent out a Tweet welcoming the baby saying, "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."
Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles shared her first thoughts of the new baby early Sunday morning tweeting, "The most beautiful girl in the world."
The couple's close friend and music mogul Russell Simmons celebrated the new arrival by tweeting, "congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."
Rihanna also gave a shout on Twitter, "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
The 30-year-old singer announced her pregnancy during the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in August. During her 2011 MTV VMA performance she told the audience, "I want you to feel the love that's growing inside me." At the end she opened her sequined tuxedo jacket and rubbed her stomach, to the delight of the crowd.
It is the first child for the singer, who is married to 41-year-old rapper Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter. The couple got married on April 4, 2008. The nuptials were so secret that no photos or video from the event were released. The couple got married with a close circle of 40 friends and family members after dating for six years.
Rumors that the pop star had given birth in December sparked a Twitter frenzy , but the craze was never backed up by any evidence.
