Michaele Salahi was set to appear on the upcoming fifth season of the VH1 reality show "Celebrity Rehab" but was kicked off the series after producers said she did not meet the criteria.

The 45-year-old, who appeared on the Bravo reality show "The Real Housewives of D.C.," and her husband Tareq were dubbed the "White House party crashers" in 2009 after they were accused of entering a White House banquet without an official invitation. Salahi denies they "crashed" the event.

"The treatment program that 'Celebrity Rehab' documents is intended for individuals with serious substance abuse and addiction issues," VH1 said in a statement posted on People magazine's website, regarding Salahi's axing.

"Prior to the taping of the current season, producers were advised that Michaele Salahi met the criteria to be treated in this setting," it said. "However, professional assessments spanning from that time to the present, found that she did not meet such criteria. As a result, she is no longer participating in the program."

A spokesperson for VH1 had no immediate comment.

Salahi's husband told People that Salahi does not have an addiction but wanted the show's host, Dr. Drew Pinsky, to help her manage her stress and multiple sclerosis. Salahi has suffered from the disease, which is characterized by the destruction of the fatty sheath that protects nerve cells, for almost 17 years.

Her husband told OnTheRedCarpet.com in a statement that Salahi was "fired due to her health condition, which is a clear violation of the Americans Disabilities Act."

Salahi had said in a statement earlier this week that she was consulting with Pinsky and is dealing with "private pains and personal struggles she endured that resulted from the White House issues, Congress and how these life changing events affected her multiple sclerosis."

Stars that are set to appear on the upcoming fifth season of "Celebrity Rehab" include Lindsay Lohan's father Michael Lohan, Los Angeles socialite and actress Bai Ling, actress Sean Young, actor Jeremy Jackson, Amy Fisher, a porn star who was dubbed the "Long Island Lolita" in the 1990s after she shot the wife of her lover at age 17, and former Guns N' Roses drummer Steven Adler, Entertainment Weekly reported.

VH1 has not made a formal casting announcement and a spokesperson for the network had no immediate comment on the report.

Others who have appeared on "Celebrity Rehab" include Tiger Woods' former mistress Rachel Uchitel, basketball star Dennis Rodman, former supermodel and reality star Janice Dickinson and former Alice in Chains bass player Mike Starr, who recently died at age 44 after years of battling drug addiction.
