Michael Douglas is set to play Hank Pym in Marvel's new "Ant-Man" movie, which stars Paul Rudd as the main character and superhero.

The comics giant and studio announces the news on Monday, Jan. 13. "Ant-Man" is set to be released on July 31, 2015 and focuses on a superhero who has the power to change the size of his body, even to one as small as an insect's. Pym is the scientist who invented the technology and tested it on himself. He is also a founding member of the Avengers. Rudd's casting was announced in December.

Michael Douglas admitted in a recent interview with actor Samuel L. Jackson that he actually had stage four tongue cancer, not stage four throat cancer, which is what he initially told media outlets in August 2010.

The 69-year-old spoke to Jackson on the U.K. talk show "This Morning" as part of a weekly series for the show's Male Cancer Awareness Week. Their segment aired on Thursday, Oct. 10, and Douglas explained that his doctor actually suggested he tell the press he had throat cancer.

Michael Douglas told the press at the Berlin premiere of "Behind the Candelabra" on Monday, Sept. 2, that things between himself and his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, are "just fine."

When asked a question about his marriage by a member of the press at the premiere, Douglas replied, according to The Associated Press, "I have a crisis at home? No, I think the press has a crisis. We, we are fine. My wife and I are, are fine. We take a temporary separation, but the press, it gives you stuff to write about."

The two have separated temporarily, the actress' rep says, following reports by outlets such as People magazine and the tabloid The National Enquirer, adding that the celebrity couple intends to try to salvage their 12-year marriage. No legal papers have been filed.

Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones participated in the 11th Annual Michael Douglas and Friends Celebrity Golf Tournament in Atlantis, located on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, during the weekend of May 25-27, 2012.

Douglas co-hosted the event with Morgan Freeman, who played on behalf of the charity PLAN!T NOW, an international disaster preparedness non-profit organization that he had co-founded in 2004 after a hurricane devastated the island nation of Grenada.

Michael Douglas made headlines over the weekend after an interview with the actor published in the U.K. newspaper (Warning: interview contains explicit language) The Guardian claimed the actor attributed his throat cancer to the human papillomavirus (HPV). However, a spokesperson for the actor denied Douglas ever said HPV was the cause of his cancer.

The Guardian quoted Douglas saying, "without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV (human papillomavirus)..." The actor then allegedly said HPV "comes about from" performing oral sex on a woman.

Michael Douglas plays Liberace and gets intimate with fellow Oscar winner Matt Damon, who stars as the famous pianist and vocalist's younger lover, Scott Thorson, in the new TV film "Behind The Candelabra."

The real Liberace, who died at age 67 in 1987, never revealed his sexual orientation and was also linked romantically to women. He once sued the UK tabloid The Mirror for suggesting he was gay. Thorson served as the entertainer's bodyguard and chauffeur and wrote about their relationship in his memoir, "Behind the Candelabra: My Life with Liberace." The HBO film is based on the book.

Michael Douglas' son Cameron Douglas was reportedly attacked at a federal prison in Loretto, Pennsylvania, where he is currently serving time.

Cameron Douglas was sentenced in 2010 to five years in federal prison for drug distribution and heroin possession. In December 2011 he was sentenced to an addition four and a half years after being caught in prison with heroin and a prescription medication, according to a May 2012 article in The New York Times.
