Michael Douglas set to present at 84th Academy Awards, Cirque du Soleil to perform
Michael Douglas has been named as another presenter at the 84th Academy Awards on February 26, telecast producers announced on February 20.
Douglas won an Oscar for his lead performance in the 1987 film "Wall Street" and a Best Picture award as a producer of the 1975 film "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest." Douglas, who battled throat cancer last year, is known for his roles in films like "Traffic," "Wonder Boys," "Falling Down," "Fatal Attraction" and "The China Syndrome."
Douglas joins the list of previously announced presenters which includes Tina Fey, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Ben Stiller, Bradley Cooper, Chris Rock, Halle Berry, Cameron Diaz, Emma Stone, Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise, Jennifer Lopez and Melissa McCarthy.
It was announced on February 17 that Cirque du Soleil will debut an exclusive performance at the ceremony which will feature the largest Cirque cast ever assembled for a single act. The performance will be accompanied by music from Oscar-nominated composer Danny Elfman. It will be the second time Cirque du Soleil has performed during an Academy Awards telecast.
