Hall recently sported a full head of hair at Comic-Con International in San Diego, California, after months of undergoing treatment for cancer and says he feel lucky, as he continues to film the fifth season of Dexter.

Actors from the show said in April that Hall was in remission and John Lithgow, who guest-starred in season four as a rival to the actor's character, a police blood spatter analyst and serial killer who only targets murderers, had told OnTheRedCarpet.com Hall and the rest of the regular cast began shooting season five in June.

"It's a real gift to be able to go back to work," People magazine quoted Hall, 39, as saying. "One of the best things about it is that it emerged at a time when we were close to the end of shooting. I was able to treat it over the hiatus and it didn't interrupt our production schedule, which, obviously, would have its effect on me, but it would have its effect on our cast, our crew, people who count on this family to keep making the show."

The actor's spokesperson confirmed in January the actor was undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma.

He won a Golden Globe earlier this year for his role on Dexter and accepted the award while wearing a winter hat, covering his head and most of his forehead. Chemotherapy is often used to treat cancer and can lead to hair loss. Hall is nominated for an Emmy this year, marking his third such nomination.

In April, Hall's wife Jennifer Carpenter, who plays his character's sister Debra, said the Dexter star is "fully recovered" from cancer and has returned to work and David Zayas, who plays Angel Batista on the show, told OnTheRedCarpet.com Hall was in remission and "ready to go in June".

Actors set to guest-star in on Dexter include Katherine Moennig of The L Word , Julia Stiles from the 1999 Heath Ledger comedy movie Ten Things I Hate About You and Johnny Lee Miller of the series Eli Stone and the 1995 film Hackers, which starred now ex-wife Angelina Jolie. Lithgow is not expected to return to Dexter but said he would not mind appearing in the form of a flashback.
