Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter split after almost two years of marriage

"Dexter" costars Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter are getting a divorce after almost two years of marriage.

"Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce," said a joint statement from the actor's representatives to Entertainment Weekly, who first reported the news.

39-year-old Hall and 31-year-old Carpenter play brother and sister Dexter and Debra Morgan on the popular Showtime series. The show, which aired its fifth season finale on Sunday, has been renewed for a sixth season.

The two married on Dec. 31, 2008. Hall, who was previously married to actress Amy Spangler from 2002 to 2006, recently completed treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier in the year.
