Melanie Moore of 'So You Think You Can Dance' on crying and winning
Melanie Moore was crowned the eighth season winner of FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance" on Thursday and told OnTheRedCarpet.com that she is completely overwhelmed by her win.
"I don't know if I can really comprehend it," Moore told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the show's finale. "Before I knew it, they had called my name and there were confetti cannons and there was fire and I couldn't really comprehend anything. It's still a whirlwind."
The 19-year-old contemporary dancer from Marietta, GA beat out runner-up Sasha Mallory, third-place finisher Marko Germar and Tadd Gadduang, who landed in fourth place. Moore said her very first reaction upon hearing her name was to start crying.
"I started crying, I'm always the one who cries out of everybody in the top twenty - it's either me or its Marko, so of course I started crying," Moore continued. "I'm just so thankful because I was standing next to an absolutely amazing person and dancer and such an inspiration for me... I was overjoyed. I was so excited.
Though Moore was overwhelmed and a bit giddy from her win, the dancer said she is most excited to get some sleep now that the season has ended.
"The first thing that I cannot wait to do is lie in my own bed and sleep for like a whole day," Moore told OnTheRedCarpet.com. "I can't wait to just sit there and not have to do anything and then I'm going to be bored probably in a day cause I get really restless, so then I'll be back out doing stuff."
