Mel Gibson's rep: Baby claim report involving Laura Bellizzi 'not true'
Mel Gibson's spokesperson says a report that says the actor may have fathered a child with a former reality star is not true.
Star magazine recently reported that Laura Bellizzi, who once appeared on the VH1 series "Secrets of Aspen," told her friends that Gibson, 55, is the father of her unborn child. The actor's spokesperson told OnTheRedCarpet.com that the tabloid report, which was cited by ABC News and other major outlets, is "not true" and that Gibson has "no connection at all" to the woman.
However, a source close to Bellizzi told OnTheRedCarpet.com that the two dated over the summer and that the woman even attended parties at Gibson's house.
"The fact that he's denying that he even knows her is absurd," the source said.
Bellizzi, 35, has not commented about the matter publicly and has not filed a paternity suit. The website Radar Online reported that she herself has denied that Gibson, who has eight children, is the father of her baby.
Radar Online and Star are both owned by American Media, Inc.
The report comes two months after Gibson was ordered to pay ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva $750,000, and allow her and their infant daughter to remain in a home he owns, as part of a custody deal.
The actor and Grigorieva, a 41-year-old musician, reached the agreement after battling in court for months.
Gibson was also ordered to provide for their daughter the same amount of funds allocated in his will to his other seven children with ex-wife Robyn.
In May, Grigorieva dropped a domestic violence claim that she had submitted against the actor amid their custody battle. It stemmed from a January 2010 confrontation. The incident spurred the leak of a widely-publicized racist, sexist and misogynistic rant said to have been made by the actor to Grigorieva over the phone, as well as leaked photos of her with bruises.
He was sentenced to informal probation for 36 months, 16 hours of community service with Mending Kids International, a 53-week domestic violence program, continued mental health counseling and a $400 domestic violence fine. If he violates his probation, Gibson could face up to a year in prison.
The judge said the actor's and Grigorieva's custody deal could be canceled if she discusses it in the press and also said no books or articles can be authorized or written by a ghostwriter about the couple's relationship.
