Mel Gibson's new film 'The Beaver', due in 2011 and sees him talking through puppet
Mel Gibson, who has dominated tabloid headlines for months due to an ugly custody battle with ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva, can be seen next year in a new film, "The Beaver".
In the movie, Gibson plays a depressed father who uses a beaver hand puppet as his only way of communication. "The Beaver" also stars Jodie Foster, who is also the director, and is set to hit theaters in the spring of 2011, the Los Angeles Times reported recently.
Foster defended Gibson, who also starred with her in the 1994 film "Maverick", after recordings of what is said to be his racist, sexist and explicit rant against Grigorieva during a January confrontation were posted online several months ago.
Foster had also defended Gibson after a 2006 DUI tirade in which he hurled anti-Semitic and sexist comments at the arresting police officers. He later entered rehab for alcohol-related treatment and his conviction has since been expunged.
