Meagan Good talks 'Think Like A Man,' love, giving up 'the cookies'
Meagan Good says "Think Like A Man" taught her to "keep a certain level of optimism when it comes to love."
The 30-year-old actress is engaged to boyfriend DeVon Franklin, a Sony Pictures Entertainment executive, her rep told Us Weekly earlier this month. In "Think Like A Man," which was released on Friday, April 20, Good plays Mya, a woman who becomes frustrated with men and love after several one-night stands.
"I think one of the things for me on the film, in general, that I learned from the experience and from my character, was just to keep a certain level of optimism when it comes to love and that was good," Good told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith at the film's premiere in Los Angeles.
"You definitely should wait to sleep with a guy - you shouldn't be giving up the cookies like that so quickly," Good said. "I mean you've got to respect yourself and you've got to know your value as a woman. And I think guys should value that too, but girls more so."
"Think Like A Man" centers around four couples. The women become hooked on TV personality Steve Harvey's 2009 book, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man," and try to use his relationship advice on their guys. In response, the men act to turn the tables on their ladies.
The film also stars Taraji P. Henson, Gabrielle Union, Regina Hall, "Entourage" star Jerry Ferrara, Terrence Jenkins, Michael Ealy, Romany Malco and Chris Brown, who makes a cameo. Kevin Hart plays Cedric, a man who is going through a divorce.
Good is known for her role in films such as "Eve's Bayou," "Stomp the Yard" and the 90s television show "Cousin Skeeter." The actress is also set to play Joanna Locasto in an upcoming television movie called "Notorious."
