Matthew Morrison discusses Cameron Diaz's melting 'prosthetic boobs'
Cameron Diaz and Matthew Morrison star as a couple in "What To Expect When You're Expecting" and both the actress and actor dish about the adventures Diaz had in wearing a prosthetic stomach for the role.
In the film Diaz plays a fitness guru named Jules who appears on a "Dancing With The Stars"-like dance competition show called "Celebrity Dance Factory" with the show's star Evan, played by "Glee" actor Morrison. Jules and Evan discover they're expecting a child together during the finale of the competition.
Diaz said her pregnancy belly was made just for her so that it fit the dimensions of her body.
"The prosthetic was amazing," Diaz said in a video provided by Paramount Pictures. "That was such a cool process because they create a cast of your body where they mold, they basically put like a body cast, a plaster cast, create an actual sculpture of your body and sculpt the bump onto the body as if it were yours so it really looks -- the dimensions are perfect and then to put it on, you know it's quite a process."
Morrison told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Rachel Smith that the prosthetic did not hold up well in the heat of Atlanta, Georgia, where the film was shot.
"She played it off so well. She was so great. The only thing was, she had prosthetic boobs too and about four hours into it, and we were in Atlanta, they started melting," Morrison said. "It was really comical."
Diaz, 39, said she had some experience with delivery rooms and so when it came time to shoot her character's delivery scene, she and the filmmakers knew what they were looking for.
"I've been in a few labor -- in delivery rooms a couple of times and you know just being an auntie, knowing what it is to be a part of a family, you know that's the dream right there," Diaz said. "This little package you're waiting to meet and all of the excitement and all of the fear and terror and joy, all those emotions that come at once -- that's what we wanted that scene to have."
Diaz and Morrison, 33, have been friends for some time and the actor says he's been trying to get her to guest star on "Glee." Sarah Jessica Parker and Kate Hudson were just announced as guest stars for season 4.
"She's got the dancing down," Morrison said. "She doesn't fancy herself a singer but I've heard her sing and I think she's great.
"What To Expect When You're Expecting" is based off one of the best-selling nonfiction pregnancy guidebooks of the same name. The movie also stars Elizabeth Banks, Anna Kendrick and Jennifer Lopez.
