Matt Damon, whose character's destiny is manipulated in the new movie "The Adjustment Bureau," says meeting his wife Luciana may have been fate.

Damon, 40, began dating the 35-year-old Argentine bartender-turned-interior designer soon after meeting her in 2003 in Miami. They married in 2005 and are parents to four daughters, including one from Damon's wife's previous relationship.

"When I look back at my life, and look at some of the most incredible things that have happened in my life, like meeting my wife, and I think of all the things that had to happen for us to meet and eight years and four kids later, I can't imagine life without her," Damon said in a recent satellite interview with OnTheRedCarpet.com and other press outlets.

"All that stuff happened by some series of coincidences, so it makes you wonder - is there an Adjustment Bureau there, kind of, helping me out?" he added.

Damon's wife has largely kept out of the public eye but has accompanied him to red carpet events, such as the 2010 Academy Awards.

In "The Adjustment Bureau," the romantic thriller that was released on Friday, on March 4, Damon and Emily Blunt play a politician and a ballerina who mysterious forces try to keep apart. Blunt has said the Adjustment Bureau could be viewed as a "God"-like "higher power."

Damon is also known for his role as Jason Bourne in the "Bourne" spy film series. He says he is interested in reprising his part, although he does not appear in a new movie in the franchise that is currently being developed.

Damon also recently played a "flamboyant" Texas ranger in "True Grit", the Coen brothers' new Western remake. The movie was nominated for 10 Academy Awards for this year's ceremony, set to take place on February 27 (check out a list of nominations.)
