Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Lisa Ann Russell finalize divorce, actor's show 'Franklin & Bash' debuts June 1

Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Lisa Ann Russell recently finalized their divorce after being married since 1996.

Gosselaar, a 36-year-old actor best known for his role as Zack Morris on the 1990s teen comedy series "Saved By The Bell," and Russell are parents to Michael, 7 , and Ava, 5.

The pair have worked out a private custody and spousal support agreement as part of their divorce, which was filed last summer and which was finalized on May 27, Us Weekly reported.

After "Saved By The Bell" ended in 1993, Gosselaar went on to star in "Saved by the Bell: The College Years," "Hyperion Bay," and "D.C." He also starred in the 1997 television film "Dying To Belong" with Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank and had recurring roles on shows such as "NYPD Blue," "Commander in Chief," and "Raising the Bar."

Gosselaar returns to television full time with the new TNT legal series "Franklin & Bash," which also stars Breckin Meyer of "Clueless" and "Road Trip" fame and premieres on Wednesday, June 1 at 9 p.m. ET.

The two play unorthodox lawyers who are hired by a firm run by Malcolm McDowell's character.

"Before they were brought in by this new law firm, they're pretty much ambulance chasers," Meyer told OnTheRedCarpet.com host Chris Balish in a video interview.

"So they do the guy who trips over the hot dog cart and sues them and getting distracted by a billboard and rear-ending kind of cases," he said. "And now they're in this law firm, this big, corporate law firm, they have to step it up a little bit. They do murder cases, sexual harassment cases, wrongful termination, they represent a Bernie Madoff-like guy. It's tough for them, because they're use to representing the underdogs."

Gosselaar called the show a "buddy piece," adding: "It is a legal drama but there's a lot of comedy woven throughout."

On one episode, Gosselaar reveals more than his sharp sense of humor.

"He's in the jacuzzi, actually," Meyer said. "He's in the hot tub and he's got to get out so you see his bum. Spoiler alert! He's got to get out. It looked really good. It looked like sack of melons that had been bronzed and waxed."

Additional reporting by Chris Balish, co-host of KABC Television's entertainment show "On The Red Carpet" (check for local TV listings).
