Mariska Hargitay, who plays Detective Olivia Benson on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," might be spending less time on set, but the audience "will not notice," NBC announced on Monday.

"You will not notice anything," NBC Entertainment chairmen Robert Greenblatt said at the network's fall TV previews. The actress, who recently adopted a daughter named Amaya Josephine, will instead be "lightening her load in terms of shooting days."

It was previously reported that Hargitay would take a reduced role on the series when her character gets promoted to a supervisor position on the show's 13th season.

"I don't think anything is going to change on screen," Greenblatt continued, TV Guide reports. "She's going to be in every episode."

Hargitay told People magazine recently, "I'm so madly in love and married to my show. But it's been very difficult for me with two kids, so what I wanted this year in terms of my deal was lifestyle issues ... I needed more time with my kids. So I will be working a little bit less and eventually getting a little promotion, so we are going to bring on a new detective."

Hargitay, 47, and her husband Peter Hermann, a 43-year-old actor, are also parents to son August, who is 4. Hargitay revealed in April she and her husband adopted the girl, who was born in the United States.

In May, Christopher Meloni exited his role as Detective Elliott Stabler. Meloni has appeared opposite Hargitay for 12 seasons since the show began in 1999.

In June, it was announced that "Chase" actress Kelli Giddish and former "Cold Case" actor Danny Pino signed on as series regulars and will star as new detectives on "SVU."

Rapper and actor Ice-T announced on June 10 that he renewed his contract for two years. He has played the role of Detective Odafin "Fin" Tutuola since 2000.
