Mariah Carey confirms she is pregnant, due in spring 2011
"Yes, we are pregnant," Carey told the Access Hollywood program, in a segment teased on The Today Show on Thursday. "This is true. It's been a long journey but it's been tough because I've been trying to hold onto a shred of privacy and that was not easy.""It's still early," she added. "We're still expecting in the spring. I don't want to give too much of a specific outline."
Carey revealed she suffered a miscarriage two years ago.
"It was really sad so we had to really absorb this and take it in," she said.
MTV News UK earlier this week quoted OK! magazine as saying the singer and husband Nick Cannon, 30, are expecting their first child and that she is expected to give birth to a boy next April. Carey has appeared heftier and in loose-fitting outfits in her recent performances, which has fueled the pregnancy rumors.
Carey and Cannon do not know the gender of their baby, The Today Show said.
"It's absolutely emotional, but first, so many reasons I mean obviously the greatest gift on earth is a child," Cannon said.
Carey said on October 22 that she does not plan on attending a Halloween party, without detailing why. Following their 2008 wedding, Carey and Cannon attended several Halloween bashes in matching costumes. In 2008, she dressed up as a sexy firefighter, complete with a red bikini top and shorts. In 2009, the two wore angel costumes.
Meanwhile, Carey is set to release her second Christmas album, called Merry Christmas II You, on November 2. The record, her 13th studio album, contains traditional holiday songs as well as four new tracks.
