Marc Anthony reportedly owes $3.4 million in property taxes
Singer Marc Anthony is facing tax woes. Anthony, who married actress and singer Jennifer Lopez in 2004, reportedly owes $3.4 million in property taxes, according to E! News.
The report comes from court documents filed on March 29, 2010 by New York judgments and liens. The state government hit the singer, real name Marco Antonio Muniz, with a federal tax lien of $1.8 million for property he owns in Long Island, New York.
He also had a lien filed against the same property in December of 2009, according to the report. That lien was for $1.6 million.
A representative for the singer told the entertainment outlet that Anthony's financial team, "reached an agreement in principle resolving all of [his] federal tax liabilities...No further comments will be issued about this matter."
Anthony has found himself in tax trouble before. In 2007, he paid $2.5 million in back taxes for failing to file returns over a five year period for his $15.5 million in income. During that time Anthony's financial management company took the blame for the tax blunder and pleaded guilty to tax felony charges.
The singer joins the list of celebrities like Nicholas Cage and Val Kilmer who have faced tax woes this year. Actor Wesley Snipes reported to a federal prison in Pennsylvania on December 9 to begin his 3-year sentence for failing to pay taxes.
