Lynn Collins talks about her sexy and strong 'John Carter' character - See Video

Lynn Collins stars in the action film "John Carter" and admits that it was tough for the filmmakers to find a balance for the sexy and strong parts of her character, Princess Dejah.

"In the books she's like sexiest woman in the universe and we were like, 'Okay, we gotta make this girl real. We have to make her accessible; we have to make her believable.' So it was a lot to figure out how much of it was going to be sexy and how much was going to be strong," Collins told OnTheRedCarpet.com at the premiere of the film. "How much was going to be like beautiful and how much was going to be strong."

Based on the first novel "Princess of Mars" in the 11-volume book series by Edgar Rice Burroughs, "John Carter" tells the story of a former Confederate captain named John Cater (Taylor Kitsch) who is transported to Mars. Willem Dafoe plays Tars Tarkas, a leader of an alien race and Collins plays Princess Dejah, Carter's love interest. The book series was, in part, the inspiration for "Star Wars."

The film also stars Samantha Morton, Thomas Haden Church, Mark Strong, Dominic West and Bryan Cranston.

"Now I just hope everyone likes it and then if they want more in 2 I guess I can just keep taking it off," she joked.

Collins has had roles in "True Blood," "The Number 23," and "50 First Dates." She also appeared alongside Kitsch in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine." Collins played Wolverine's love interest in the movie while Kitsch starred as Gambit.

The actress previously talked about portraying the different concepts of the character when OnTheRedCarpet.com talked to her in August 2011 at the D23 Expo.

"I think for the first three weeks there was definitely this strange element of shooting a movie and going 'Okay, how do you play iconic terms like the feminine warrior, the masculine heart, the feminine body but scientific mind,'" She said. "Like all of these strange concepts trying to marry them into one."

She continued, "Until somebody told me, very quickly on, 'Just relax and be yourself. The words are going to do it for you, the costume is going to do it for you and you're going to click into it.' And about a month in I clicked."

"John Carter" is slated for release on March 9, 2012. Watch the trailer below.
